It's the Little Things

My Dad's world became very small. TV and lots of visitors were his entertainment. Medical appointments were his only outings. Before he got sick, you would never find him far from his chapstick, comb and phone.

In his hospital bed at home, those things continued to be important to him. The other items that became like security blankets to him were ice water and paper towels. Any time anyone got up, he wanted more ice water and paper towels - even if he had plenty in our opinion.

When occasionally there was actually a need for a paper towel, he would get a look of triumph on his face like "See?! Good thing I always have paper towels!"
